The
Vision
In
2004, an exciting new chapter was written in the history
of manuscript illumination – The Illuminated
Torah was begun. In a historic undertaking, the
Tessler family commissioned renowned Judaica artist, Rabbi
Yonah Weinrib to execute a work unparalleled in its scope,
to add an exciting new dimension to the understanding
of Judaism’s most profound text, the Torah. The
Rennert family, patrons of the forthcoming Limited Edition,
have joined the Tesslers in creating one of the most ambitious
endeavors of its kind, all encompassing in its artistic
design, as well as its commentary, research and scholarly
components.
While
illuminated texts such as Haggadot, Megillot,
and the like have been added to the treasure trove of
Judaica over the millennia, few have been illuminated
with such inspiring imagery and range of design. With
The Illuminated Torah, its art, its calligraphy
and its cogent messages, one can gain new insights into
the teachings of the Al-mighty, and experience the majesty
and beauty of Torah. Its images are to be studied, its
lessons reviewed, its panoramic scope offers the reader
a glimpse into the infinite wisdom of G-d’s teachings,
given to Moses at Sinai to share with the Jewish nation.
